QFA702/703 Melbourne-Cairns return service today was operated by VH-XZP which is painted in the "retro" scheme from the 70's and 80's.
This was the first service by VH-XZP to the Far North, the aircraft only ferrying into Australia on the 19th of November routing Nadi-Sydney-Brisbane.

REX Regional Express Airlines Saab 340 VH-EKH

Regional Express Airlines have arrived in the Far North this week to start preparing for their new services from Cairns to Mt Isa via the Gulf. Skytrans Airlines will cease services on this route at the end of the year. Regional Express Airlines were awarded 5 of the Queensland regulated routes, the other 4 being from Brisbane and Townsville.

VH-EKH SF34 operated from Mt Isa via the Gulf to Cairns 28/11/2014 and was noted today operating locally at Cairns.

the 3rd saw Cessna 402 P2-SAV of Simbu Air arrive for m'nance from PNG

A trio of N22 Nomads arrived in overall white finish endorsed ARMY on 16th.  Possibly on del to the TNI-AL but unconfirmed.  They were A18-318/319/320

Resident and long time veteran DC-3 VH-MIN arrived back at Cairns on the 24th wearing Dakota Downunder titles and the very colourful (Flying Lizard Tours-the Frills of Australia) logo on the passenger door.
